PARIS, France — A member of the Colorado Rapids made his presence felt during the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team's win against New Zealand at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Not only did Djordje Mihailovic score on a penalty kick in the 8th minute, the United States' first Olympic soccer goal from the men's side in 16 years, he also assisted on Walker Zimmerman's goal just four minutes later.
Team USA defeated New Zealand 4-1 in their second Group A match after losing 3-0 to France in their opening match, keeping their hopes of advancing to the knockout rounds alive.
The team's third and final match of group play will be against Guinea at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30.
Mihailovic, who was born in Jacksonville, Florida, has appeared in 21 matches for the Rapids since joining the club this season from AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie league.
