NICE, France — Two members of the U.S. women's soccer team from Colorado led them to a commanding win in their opening game at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Mallory Swanson of Highlands Ranch scored two goals less than 70 seconds apart in the 24th and 25th minutes of the match, increasing Team USA's lead to a commanding 3-0 over Zambia. That would end up being the final score of the Group B match in Nice.
U.S. captain Lindsey Horan of Golden also made her presence felt with two assists on Trinity Rodman's opening goal in the 17th minute and Swanson's first goal.
The team's next game against Germany is set for 1 p.m. Mountain Time on Saturday, July 28. The final game of group play is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. MT on Wednesday, July 31.
