PARIS, France — For some people, the opening ceremony of the Olympics is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But for one athlete from Colorado, it was a time to relax and enjoy one of her favorite hobbies.

Sammy Sullivan, who lives in Glendale and plays for the Colorado Gray Wolves, plays for the U.S. women's rugby team. But instead of cruising down the River Seine with her fellow athletes on Friday, she built Legos.

"Is somebody gonna match my freak? (Building Paris Lego during the Opening Ceremony)," she shared on Instagram in a video that plays an edit of Tinashe's viral song, "Nasty."

In the caption, she explained that because women's rugby played in two days, they did not attend the opening ceremony.

"but I'm having tons of fun building Lego and watching on the TV!! Go USA!!" she wrote.

Sullivan's latest project featured iconic Paris sites including the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.

In a previous post, she proudly showed off what appeared to be her entire collection of Lego projects.

Sullivan started playing rugby at West Point and holds the rank of Army Captain. She's originally from Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The women's rugby team has two games in pool play on Sunday, against Japan and Brazil. The games will be aired on CNBC and streamed on Peacock, NBCOlympics.com, and the NBC and NBC Sports apps.
