Bierstadt Lagerhaus hosts Olympics watch party

The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team beat Brazil 1-0 on Saturday to take gold at the Paris Games.

DENVER — Bierstadt Lagerhaus hosted a few dozen fans to watch the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team defeat Brazil to win gold at the Paris Olympics.

This was the third time the U.S. faced Brazil in an Olympics for the gold. The U.S. beat Brazil with the same score in Beijing’s 2008 Olympics, and 2-1 in Athens in 2004.

This year, three Colorado women on the team are sporting their red, white and blue: Lindsey Horan, Mallory Swanson and Sophia Smith.

“The energy in here for sports is great,” said Valerie Carter. “There are these tense moments people are like holding their,  clenching their jaws. And then of course when things go well. At the end, you know, we were all counting down."

Bierstadt Lagerhaus also celebrated their eighth birthday on Saturday.
