DENVER — Colorado Avalanche center, Nathan MacKinnon, earned the National Hockey League's (NHL) first star of the week.
MacKinnon has the longest active point streak in the league at 15 games. He has recorded 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) in his last four games.
On Dec. 11, MacKinnon recorded a goal and an assist as the Avalanche rallied from a 2-goal deficit in the third period against Calgary to win 6-5.
During Colorado's 5-1 win over Buffalo, MacKinnon became the fifth player in franchise history to record 800 points.
MacKinnon leads the league in assists with 33 and is tied for second in power-play assists with 15.
On Sunday, MacKinnon recorded his 17th career four-point game as the Avalanche beat the San Jose Sharks 6-2.
Vancouver Canucks goalie, Thatcher Demko, and New York Islanders defenseman, Noah Dobson, earned the leagues second and third stars respectively.
