DENVER — Colorado Avalanche goaltender Alexander Georgiev earned the NHL's third star of the week ending Jan. 14, the league announced on Monday.
Georgiev shared the league lead with three wins last week. He had a 1.95 goals against average, a .0929 save percentage and a shutout during that stretch.
Georgiev started strong with a 4-3 shootout win over the Boston Bruins on Jan. 8. He made 23 saves and denied all three shots during the shootout.
On Jan. 10, Georgiev made 25 saves in 3-0 win over the Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights.
Georgiev finished the week with a 26 save performance in a 5-3 in Toronto against the Maple Leafs on Jan. 13.
The league's first star was awarded to Vancouver's Elias Pettersson and the second star was awarded to Calgary's Blake Coleman.
