DENVER — On Monday, the Colorado Avalanche signed forward Jonathan Drouin to a one-year deal for the 2024-25 season.
Drouin, 29, played 79 games with the Avalanche last season, recording a career high 56 points (19 goals and 37 assists). That was the fifth most on the team, behind Nathan MacKinnon (140), Mikko Rantanen (104), Cale Makar (90) and Casey Mittelstadt (57).
Drouin missed the first eight games of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs for Colorado but came back to record three assists in three games against the Dallas Stars.
Colorado acquired Drouin as a free agent on July 1, 2023. Before that, Drouin spent the previous six seasons with the Montreal Canadians where he played 321 regular season games and recorded 186 points.
Drouin was originally taken by Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He was the third overall pick that year. He played 164 regular season games with the Lightning and totaled 95 points (29 goals and 66 assists).
