NEW YORK — The awards and accolades continue to be amassed by Colorado Avalanche star defenseman Cale Makar. After being named the No. 1 star for the NHL last week, he was named as the No. 2 star for the entire month of November.

Makar led the league in assists in November with 21 and was second overall in the NHL for total points during the month with 25. His 25 points set the franchise record for points by a defenseman in any calendar month, surpassing the previous high of 21 shared by him and Steve Duchesne.

Makar's impressive month was highlighted by five straight multipoint performances from Nov. 11-22 in which he scored two goals and assisted on 11 others. During that five-game stretch, he also notched three straight three-assist games.

He also became the fastest defenseman to amass 200 career assists, doing so in his 254th game. Makar ranks third in the league in points with 34, leads the NHL in assists, and is currently tied for the league lead in plus/minus (+18).

Tampa Bay Lightning right winger Nikita Kucherov was named the No. 1 star for the month. He led the league in points with 28 in 14 games. He scored nine goals and assisted on 19 other scores during November. Kucherov currently leads the NHL in points with 39.

The No. 3 star of November was Canucks blueliner Quinn Hughes. He ranked fourth in the league for assists and overall scoring in November. Hughes had 17 assists and five goals in the month.
