The revolving door in the New England Patriots' wide receiver room continues to spin.
Eric Decker, who signed with the team earlier this month, announced his retirement on Instagram on Sunday.
Decker caught two passes for 12 yards this preseason and was already in jeopardy of being cut.
A third-round draft pick of Denver in 2010, Decker will apparently finish his career with 439 catches for 5,816 yards and 53 TDs in an eight-year career split between the Broncos, Jets and Titans.
"I know now that it is time to hang my helmet up and start a new chapter in my life," Decker wrote.
Decker's retirement continues the constant cycling of wideouts in New England.
Since their Super Bowl LII loss in February, the Patriots have traded Brandin Cooks, dealt for Cordarrelle Patterson, allowed Danny Amendola to leave in free agency, released Malcolm Mitchell and Kenny Britt, drafted Braxton Berrios, signed Decker and signed (and released) Jordan Matthews.
This has all occurred while Julian Edelman has re-integrated to the group after missing last season with a torn ACL (of course, he will also miss the first four games of this season due to a PED suspension).
