Denver Broncos fans look on as players take part in drills during "Back Together Weekend" at an NFL football training camp Saturday, July 27, 2024.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Remember, Bronco Mania was born through some rough years in the team’s beginning.

It will not die easily. To the contrary, there are indicators the Broncos’ popularity remains alive and well.

Here’s a Broncos’ team that hasn’t been to the postseason in eight seasons (NFL’s 2nd-longest drought) and is currently in throes of a seven-year losing record streak that is the worst stretch in half a century for the team.

Yet, the Broncos saw a significantly larger training camp audience and retail sales during camp this year.

Total attendance for the Broncos’ 2024 training camp was up 25.5 percent from last year, per data from the team. The Broncos’ 15 open practices this year, which marked the third-highest total in the NFL, totaled 29,951 fans compared to 23,871 in 2023.

The Broncos’ retail sales at their training facility’s team store were also up 57.5% compared to last year, per the team. So, fans were not sitting on their wallets.

The team’s new uniforms, throwbacks and those new Bo Nix No. 10 jerseys obviously didn’t hurt sales.

The average crowd was a tick under 2,000 fans per practice with 12 out of 15 sessions totaling at least 2,000 fans packed into the berm.

Attendance was capped at 3,000 due to Arapahoe County restrictions. Also, a natural attrition rate with free mobile ticketing is expected, so the team worked to distribute more tickets this year to account for those no-shows.

The biggest training camp crowds occurred on “Back Together Weekend” with 2,362 fans on Saturday, July 27; an impressive mid-week crowd of 2,354 fans on Wednesday, July 31; and 2,313 fans for the joint practice against the Packers on Friday for the team’s final open practice.

The team is expected to break ground later this month on its $175 million training center’s reconstruction project. It remains to be seen how construction will affect attendance for the Broncos’ 2025 training camp.
