CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Even if it’s not always evident on Sundays, the Broncos continue to show in other ways they are a big-league operation.
Denver’s NFL franchise announced Tuesday it will have 16 training camp dates open to the public – tied for third-most in the NFL – with the first practice taking place on Friday, July 26. Only the Ravens (20) who limited fan capacity to 1,000 and the Chiefs (19) have more practices open to the public than the Broncos.
The Broncos are also one of the few remaining franchises to not charge admission or parking for their camp sessions.
The team stated it will announce its full training camp schedule Wednesday.
This is a team that six months ago wasn’t sure if it would have any training camp sessions open to the public this summer because of plans to build a new state-of-the-art headquarters and practice facility. Instead, the team increased its public practices by 33% as the start of construction has been pushed back until after training camp with completion still scheduled by the opening of training camp of 2026.
The Broncos’ training camp will be led by Sean Payton, who is in his second year as head coach, with full attention paid to first-round rookie quarterback Bo Nix.
The Broncos will continue to use its free mobile ticketing system that it started last year. The Broncos found that out of the 25,000-plus fans who attended their 12 public training camp practices last year, only 15% were season-ticket holders.
Two key dates in training camp this year are Back Together Weekend on Saturday, July 27, and a joint practice with the Green Bay Packers on Friday, Aug. 16.
Practices will include appearances from player alumni and mascots and even Thunder and face painting on select days, with player autographs, food trucks and free water.
The Broncos' first preseason game will be held Sunday, Aug. 11, against the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The second and third preseason games will be held at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver against Green Bay and Arizona, respectively. All three Broncos preseason games are scheduled for Sundays which is unusual for the NFL preseason.
The 2024 regular season begins for the Broncos at the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Sept. 8.
