DENVER — The Broncos have reached agreement with receiver Josh Reynolds on a two-year contract that has a maximum value of $14 million, sources confirmed to 9NEWS.
Reynolds, 29, has been around. He was the Los Angeles Rams' fourth-round draft pick out of Texas A&M in 2017. He was a No. 3 receiver most of his career. His best season was 2020 with the Rams when he had 52 catches for 618 yards and two touchdowns.
He was a No. 2 receiver with the Lions last year when he had 40 catches for 608 yards and a career-best five touchdowns. In a mid-December win against the Broncos, Reynolds had two catches for 41 yards.
Reynolds is a tall (6-foot-3), lean (194 pounds) receiver with decent speed (4.52/40). He is essentially a less-expensive alternative to Jerry Jeudy, who was dealt two weeks ago to Cleveland for a fifth- and sixth-round draft pick. Jeudy is getting paid $19 million by the Broncos this year and another $16 million in 2025. The base of Reynolds' contract figures to come in at around $6 million per year.
Reynolds and second-year receiver Marvin Mims Jr. figure to compete for the No. 2 role behind top receiver Courtland Sutton.
The Broncos also have former No. 2-3 receiver Tim Patrick coming back from back-to-back season-ending injuries, third-year player Brandon Johnson and veterans Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Phillip Dorsett in their receiver room.
