Broncos number one pick Noah Fant says he's not feeling any extra pressure

Fant said his expectations of himself are already very high and that doesn't change because of where he was picked.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Being a teams number one pick is both a blessing and a curse all at the same time.

Yes, if you’re the number one pick you do get a lot more money, but with that comes a lot more pressure.

"I don't really feel pressure," said Broncos Tight End Noah Fant. "I feel like my expectations for myself are pretty high. I feel like when my expectations for myself exceed everyone else's, I don't really feel pressure from everyone else. But that's back by my work ethic and what I do out here every day and pushing myself."

Fant also emphasized that the expectations he puts on himself would be the same whether he was a number pick or a college free agent. The pressure is to play. No one gets into the NFL wanting to be on the bench and getting those first-team reps just makes him hungrier.

"It feels like that is where I want to be. I definitely want to be a first-team guy. Run with the ones and get some good work in, just be successful there. I have been able to do that here in camp for the start of camp. Hopefully, I can continue to do that and continue to get better."

Being the best at that position won't easy though. There is a lot of talent at Tight End on this team.

Then again, as Fant has quickly figured out, in the NFL, the competition is fierce everywhere on the field.

"The competitive spirit is high. Everybody competes. If they didn't have that competitive spirit, they wouldn't be in the NFL. Everybody's competitive spirit is at the highest level. There's definitely some attitude in that also. It comes into practice and we have a lot of fun out there."
