When the Broncos will wear their first new uniforms in 27 years

The first uniform change for the Broncos in 27 years, the new uniforms have a modern look for 2024.

DENVER — The uniform schedule for a new era in Broncos Country has been announced.

The Denver Broncos will be wearing four different combinations of uniforms this season, their first since new helmets, jerseys, pants, and socks were unveiled in April.

The Broncos are calling their new uniform closet "The Mile High Collection." The Nike swoosh stripes are out.

The Broncos will wear their primary orange jersey five times in 2024, including on the road in Tampa Bay in Week 3.

They will have white uniforms nine times, including their home opener against Russell Wilson's Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

Fans have been waiting to see the Broncos' new throwback uniform which features a look from the Orange Crush era and the Broncos' first Super Bowl appearance in 1977. The throwback helmet was used by the Broncos from 1968-96.

The throwback uniform will be worn twice this season. During Alumni Weekend in Week 5 at home against the Las Vegas Raiders and again in Week 18 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Broncos will wear their dark navy alternate jerseys and white helmets only once this season, during a Week 13 "Monday Night Football" matchup with the Browns.

The first uniform change for the Broncos in 27 years, the new uniforms aim to pay tribute to the team’s tradition with a modern look that also recognizes the Rocky Mountain region.

“I’m incredibly excited,’’ said Broncos President Damani Leech. “It’s a fresh take on our uniforms as a primary set, so it’s not a dramatic departure from where we’ve been. We have great colors, great logo and uniforms. It’s a refresh that I think it’s really exciting.”

“They were made for Broncos Country,’’ said Hailey Sullivan, the Broncos’ chief marketing officer. “We’ve infused the heart of the fan throughout. Hopefully, you’ve picked up on how purposeful (we were). We wanted to infuse the fandom throughout — from the helmet to the fabric to every aspect of the jersey to the whole closet. I’m really excited. It’s for Broncos Country.”

New Denver Broncos uniforms

A quick breakdown of the uniforms:

— The primary home uniform will have an orange jersey, most commonly paired with white pants, but they can also be matched with orange and midnight (dark), navy blue pants.

— The primary road uniform will have a white jersey, which would pair up with any of the three pants — white, orange or midnight navy blue.

— The alternative uniform, to be worn only at home, will be the midnight blue color and again can be matched up with any of the three colors but most likely will draw the same midnight navy blue or white pants. The alternative dark blue jerseys would also match well with the white pants.

— The throwback uniform has an orange jersey with white and blue stripes at the shoulder sleeve, white pants with orange and blue thin stripes down the side and the old-fashioned light-blue helmet with bucking Bronco inside the D logo that was used from 1968-1996.

Helmets

A breakdown of each uniform part:

— The new metallic satin matte finish of the navy helmets with a matching navy facemask makes both the home and road uniforms. There is a light orange, dual stripe not visible from the front. It starts from the crown of the helmet and stripes to the back.

— For the alternate helmet, there is a white metallic satin finish with the team’s current logo. All of the logos on the primary and alternate helmet are approximately 15 percent smaller than the logos on the current model.

— There is a 5280 insignia on the bottom front of the helmets with the player's number and “Broncos” on the back lower part.

 — The alternative helmet will be white with a white facemask and two dark blue stripes down the back which will match the all-blue uniform.

— The throwback helmet was what the Broncos primarily used from 1968-96.

Jerseys

— There is no bold stripe down the side. There is a triangular stripe at the shoulders, along with a small Nike checkmark. The orange jersey has white and dark blue stripes at the shoulder; the white jersey has orange and dark blue stripes at the shoulder and the dark blue jersey has orange and white stripes at the shoulder.

— The sleeve caps show mountain peaks with the underpart consisting of perforate triangles that pay tribute to Colorado summit markers and its high altitude.

— From a distance, some eyes may see the road jerseys as looking similar to the road jerseys of teams that incorporate a heavy emphasis on white with a dark number outline, most recently the Cincinnati Bengals with their redesign. For example, the Bengals use an orange and black color scheme while the Broncos use orange and dark blue. From a distance, the dark navy blue appears subtle.

— There is a clean, block-style design of numbers on the front and back of the jersey with the nameplate in the upper-middle of the back of the jersey.

—The white road jerseys have midnight navy blue numbers while the home orange and alternative blue jerseys are meshed with white numbers.
