9 Facts about the 1999 Super Bowl

KUSA - The last time the Broncos won a Super Bowl was on January 31, 1999 when they defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34 - 19 in Super Bowl XXXIII.

KUSA - The last time the Broncos won a Super Bowl was on January 31, 1999 when they defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34 - 19 in Super Bowl XXXIII.

They were, of course, led by quarterback John Elway. That's easy to remember, but here are 9 other facts about that game that you might have forgotten. 

1. At 38, John Elway became the oldest player to be named the MVP in a Super Bowl. It was the last game of his career.

2. Cher sang the National Anthem before the game at Pro Player Stadium in Miami, Florida.

3. According to NFL.com the game was attended by 74,803 people.

4. Swing b and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Stevie Wonder and Gloria Estefan all performed at halftime. KISS performed ahead of the game.

5. It was the first Super Bowl for the Falcons in their franchise history.

6. Broncos tight end and future Hall of Fame inductee Shannon Sharpe, suffered a torn MCL in his left knee in the first quarter and was ruled out for the rest of the game.

7. The average cost of a 30 second commercial spot was $1.6 million.

8.  John Elway became the first quarterback to start 5 Super Bowls.

9. A ticket to the big game cost about $325 according to SI.com They only had data through 2014 when the average cost was $1250.
