DU hockey welcomed home after winning NCAA national championship

The Pioneers were celebrated by their fans Monday evening at Magness Arena after capturing their 10th national title over the weekend.

DENVER โ€” Monday night was a party for the Pioneers.

The University of Denver men's hockey team captured an NCAA-record 10th national championship over the weekend, defeating Boston College in the title game Saturday in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Pioneers were welcomed home two days later by fans packed inside Magness Arena to celebrate the historic win.

Denver has won two titles in the past three years under current head coach and former player David Carle. The Pioneers passed Michigan (9) for the outright lead for most championships of any NCAA program.

"Now we're the indisputable best program in college hockey," Carle said to the fans Monday night. "You could've argued it a couple months ago, but you can't argue it any more. The best college hockey program is in Denver!"
