FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Colorado State football team is in the win column.
The Rams took down Northern Colorado 38-17 on Saturday night at Canvas Stadium.
CSU (1-1) jumped up early, let UNC (0-2) linger a bit but mostly controlled the game on the way to a victory in the home opener.
There were some big flashes, a few mistakes that could be costly against better teams, but in the end the Rams did what they needed.
CSU comfortably won to wash the 52-0 defeat at Texas away a little bit.
Justin Marshall, Keegan Holles and Damian Henderson all had significant runs, and CSU gashed the Bears in the ground game. The passing game wasn’t overly flashy, but Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi did throw a dot of a 40-yard TD pass to Caleb Goodie.
Fowler-Nicolosi (who also had a 2-yard TD run) finished 17-26 for 180 yards and a TD with no interceptions.
The Rams carried the ball 40 times for 246 yards (6.2 yards per carry). Holles had 89 yards on 10 carries, Marshall had 67 on 10 carries and Henderson had 38 on eight carries.
CSU finished with 426 yards of offense.
