GOLDEN, Colo. β It's getting darker and colder but the Colorado School of Mines football team is still on the field.
Football season has ended for the majority of Division II programs across the nation β yet the Orediggers are one of eight teams still standing.
Mines, which is still undefeated on the season at 12-0 overall, is gearing up for another postseason game as the Orediggers host Central Washington in the NCAA quarterfinals at Marv Kay Stadium on Saturday at Noon (MT).
"I told the guys there's eight teams left and that's too many. We want to keep narrowing that down," head coach Pete Sterbick said after Tuesday night's practice.
"It's what we expected to do, but that doesn't mean it's not special. When you get to December and you're still playing, you know you're pretty elite."
