FORT COLLINS, Colorado — Rams point guard Isaiah Stevens is young: 23 years old … but he feels older, as he plays in his fifth and final season in Fort Collins.
“I would say it definitely starts to feel that way the more we practice, with the season coming along, with all the scrimmage sessions and defensive segments that they have us doing,.” said Stevens with a smile. “But man it’s been nothing but fun, everything I’ve dreamed of, I’m super excited to be back.”
Stevens recalls the moment he told Head Coach Niko Medved that he would be coming back for his last dance.
“Yeah I remember I called him, and I asked if he would have me back on the team and he makes a joke that, he said he’ll take a few days to get back to me and think about it but yeah man I just really wanted to finish out my career here.”
It’s safe to say Medved is ecstatic to have his star back, “I was really supportive of him on this journey of he wants to be a professional basketball player and wherever that led, it’s my job to be happy for him,” said Medved. “But don’t get me wrong I’m pretty excited he’s back and I think he’s had a blast so far in the offseason with this team and is really ready for this for him at least his last dance.”
A dance that, hopefully, the Rams all-time assist leader will be able to soak in.
“Imma try, to the best of my ability, really each and every night I can in Moby. I know I’m valued here, I know I’m appreciated here, and I know I’m also loved here so I’m just super appreciative of that.”
