BOULDER, Colo. — University of Colorado Athletic Director Rick George has been named the Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
NACDA said Wednesday that George is one of four honored in the Football Bowl Subdivision and one of 28 honored throughout seven divisions ranging from FBS to the junior college and community college level.
George became CU's athletic director in 2013. George spearheaded the CU athletic complex expansion that included an indoor practice facility and Champions Center.
In 2022, George hired Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders as CU's head football coach, putting Colorado football back on the map.
In 2023, CU sold out its spring game, all six home games for the first time in program history, and had five of the 14 most-watched games in the college football regular season.
Colorado also hosted FOX's "Big Noon Kickoff" three times and "College GameDay" once, the first pregame show appearances in Boulder in 28 seasons.
