Deion Sanders addresses the burglary of his players in UCLA locker room

Several Colorado football players said jewelry was taken from their lockers during a game at UCLA. Deion Sanders said action is needed from the NCAA.

BOULDER, Colo. — Colorado head coach Deion Sanders held his weekly news conference Tuesday morning and immediately addressed the burglary of CU players during a game on Saturday.

After the Buffaloes lost to the UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl, multiple Colorado football players said personal jewelry left in their locker room had disappeared.

Well Off Media, operated by Deion Sanders Jr., posted a video of Colorado players outside the locker room after the game talking about the incident. Pasadena Police tells 9NEWS that the department is investigating.

Sanders addressed the burglary during his press conference Tuesday.

"Our kids got robbed during the game last week. I think that's a travesty," Sanders said. "I would expect the NCAA to do something about that."

"These are college kids, I'm pretty sure they don't think about insurance at this point and at this juncture in their life. We've talked about NIL and how they maintain their finances. We've pretty much given them finanical planners and given them the resources, but the insurance part of it we slipped and we didn't really educate them on that."

"I know the kids will be forthright in what was stolen and some of our staff members as well. And all that stuff should be replaced," Sanders said. "This is the Rose Bowl. They said the 'Granddaddy of 'em all,' right? I'm sure granddaddy had some money. Grandpa should have some money to get these kids."

"I'm going to have a list made out from these young men and I know they're going to be truthful about what they lost so we can try and get it back for them. They may not be able to get the items back, but they should be able to reimburse them. That was unbelieveable. But I did hear that the home team [UCLA] was robbed as well."

"I hope we can do something about that, NCAA, you do something about everything else. Do something about this one," Sanders said.

"On Saturday, October 28th, at 9:22pm, the Pasadena Police Department was notified of a theft that took place in the University of Colorado locker room during the UCLA vs. Colorado football game at the Rose Bowl. The theft reportedly involved several pieces of jewelry and other miscellaneous personal and football items," Pasadena Police told 9NEWS.

"At this point, the value of the loss is undetermined. Detectives will check the area for relevant security camera footage as part of the investigation and will review any existing video," police said.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Pasadena Police Department at 626-744-4241.

“We are aware of players having personal belongings taken from the CU visiting locker room during Saturday’s game against UCLA at the Rose Bowl," CU said in a statement. "We are in contact with both the UCLA and Pasadena police. The Pasadena Police Department is the lead agency handling the investigation.”

Sanders and his team are preparing this week for another game against a ranked opponent. Sanders and the Buffaloes (4-4) next play Saturday against No. 16 Oregon State (6-2) at Folsom Field in Boulder.

Saturday's game between the Colorado Buffaloes and Oregon State Beavers will kickoff at 8 p.m. MT and will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Colorado has already played two 8 p.m. games at Folsom Field on ESPN this season. Coach Prime is not fan of those late prime-time kickoffs.

The late games don't finish until after 11:30 p.m. and can even carry into early Sunday. Each of Colorado's late starts have also extended into double overtime.

“Who makes these 8 o'clock games? Dumbest thing ever. Stupidest thing ever invented in life. Who wants to stay up until 8 o'clock for a darn game?” Sanders said on his weekly radio show. “What about the East Coast — do they even care about ratings? Is anyone watching it? What are we supposed to do with the kids all day until 8 o’clock? What are we supposed to do in the hotel?”
