CU lands top-ranked lineman, hires former NFL player to coach

Deion Sanders made some big splashes in an area of need, landing OT Jordan Seaton and hiring former Minnesota Viking Phil Loadholt to coach the offensive line.

BOULDER, Colo. — Coach Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes made a couple of big moves in an area that sorely needs improvement, landing a top-ranked offensive tackle in the 2024 class and hiring a former NFL player to coach the offensive line.

Offensive tackle Jordan Seaton out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida made the surprising announcement on the Fox Sports talk show Undisputed Thursday.

Seaton is ranked among the top linemen in the 2024 class on multiple recruiting websites. He reportedly chose the Buffs over the University of Tennessee, the University of Oregon, the University of Florida and Ohio State University.

Later on Thursday, former Minnesota Vikings lineman Phil Loadholt announced he was joining Coach Prime's staff to coach the offensive line.

Loadholt will be tasked with improving what may have been the Buffs' weakest position group last season.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders was sacked 54 times last season before missing the season finale with a fracture in his back.

Coach Prime seemed to admit early on in the season that the Buffs were still missing some pieces needed along the offensive and defensive lines to compete for a national championship.

"We're about seven to eight dawgs away from just changing the game," Sanders said on ESPN show First Take earlier this year.

Loadholt was taken with the 54th pick in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft after four years at the University of Oklahoma.

He played seven seasons in the NFL with the Vikings between 2009 and 2015, starting all 89 games he played.
