DENVER — The newest member of the Denver Nuggets isn't just celebrating the life-changing experience of being taken with the 22nd pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He's also enjoying some free perks that come with playing in the Mile High City.
Wendy's posted on social media congratulating DaRon Holmes II on "achieving your life long dream" in addition to being drafted into the NBA.
"A year's worth of saucy nuggs comin' atcha," the fast food chain said.
The 6-foot-10 center out of the University of Dayton seemed to be a little confused at first.
"So I’m supposed to get free sauces or something from Wendy’s?" Holmes said on social media.
Holmes did speak about it at his introductory news conference.
"I saw something that says I get free sauces from Wendy's, so that's pretty cool," Holmes said.
The Nuggets traded the 28th and 56th picks in this year's draft, along with two future second-round picks, to the Phoenix Suns for the 22nd pick used to select Holmes.
The hope is he will be able to provide the Nuggets with quality minutes at backup center and help keep superstar Nikola Jokic fresh.
Hopefully, all of those free nuggets won't interfere with those plans.
