DENVER — The World Baseball Classic (WBC) will pit the best baseball players in the world against each other starting March 8.
There are 20 teams playing in the 2023 tournament. Rosters are also comprised of players from the ranks of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) and other leagues from Asia, Latin America, Europe and Australia
The WBC has 67 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Stars, 186 players on 40-man rosters and 332 players under contract with big league teams.
Six members of the Colorado Rockies made 2023 WBC rosters including Daniel Bard (Team USA), Jake Bird (Team Israel), Justin Lawrence (Team Panama), Elías Díaz (Team Colombia), Germán Marquez (Team Venezuela), and Alan Trejo (Team Mexico).
Rockies Hitting coach Hensley Meulens will manage Team Netherlands and Yard Goats Manager Chris Denorfia has joined the Team Italy staff.
Rockies minor leaguer Michael Petersen will compete for Team Great Britain.
