PUEBLO – Chantel Cordova may be a little lady at just 5 feet 3 inches, but she packs a good punch in the ring.

Cordova is a Pueblo-grown girl and a professional boxer who just returned home with a huge win.

She was one of the first women from the state to be on the U.S. Women's National team. She traveled around the world boxing, but it wasn't until 2006, Cordova turned pro.

She's ranked No. 2 in the U.S. after winning the North American Boxing Federation championship title in Indio, Calif.

Cordova was 9 years old when she started boxing, but it was in her blood even then. Her father is her trainer, and her mom is her promoter.

At 27 years old now, Cordova balances a full-time job along with her 5-year-old son. She finds time at night to train.

Her alias is "Gorgeous Babe" in the ring. She said it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be an athlete in a man's world. Cordova speaks to young girls in Colorado, encouraging them to pursue their dreams.

Cordova's next goal is winning the world title.
