Aqib Talib didn’t mind admitting he was relieved when the league announced he would not be punished for his gun-shooting incident last summer.
The Broncos star defensive back also confessed his relation with guns would change after he suffered a bullet wound to his calf.
“I think it will, man,’’ he said. “It definitely has so far. I’ve got to do little safety things here and there but it definitely will.’’
What Talib was not ready to address, though, was exactly what happened last June in Dallas.
“You call me I’ll tell you. I'll tell you, personally,'’ he told the 9NEWS Broncos reporter. “W're going to sit down, eat lunch and I’ll tell you for sure, you can break it.’’
Here it is draft week and had the league come down hard on Talib, Broncos general manager John Elway might have been thinking cornerback with that No. 20 overall pick.
All’s well that ends well. The Broncos don’t have to worry about Talib missing any games as they set out for their 10-pick draft Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
“I’m in tune with what we’re doing,’’ Talib said. “I don’t know who were going to pick but I definitely know who I like.’’
Who, Aqib?
“A guy who could do multiple things,’’ he said to laughter. Just as his fellow cornerback Chris Harris Jr. did last week, Talib was describing local star Christian McCaffrey.
As for a cornerback?
“I really like Adoree’ Jackson. The guy from SC,’’ Talib said about the Trojans’ cornerback who is also considered the best returner in the draft. “I think he’s going to be the one out of this class. He just has the IT factor. Any time you leave college scoring that many touchdowns (15 off four punt returns, four kickoff returns, one interception return and six receptions) and doing that many things, you’re a helluva football player.’’
