John Grant Jr. to come out of retirement, play for Denver Outlaws

The Colorado Mammoth legend will serve as an Outlaws player-coach for the 2019 season.

One of the biggest names in Colorado lacrosse is making a return.

John Grant Jr. will play for the Denver Outlaws for the 2019 season after retiring in 2017.

Grant certainly left his mark on the NLL with the Colorado Mammoth, and is still the franchise's all-time goal leader with 235 over his seven-year stint with Colorado (2010-16).

Thee 44-year-old was previously the head coach at Valor Christian High School from 2015-2018, and most recently served as an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy.

He will join the roster of an Outlaws team that recently captured its third Major League Lacrosse championship in 2018.

His position on the team will be that of a player-coach as he will continue to serve as the offensive coordinator, a role he held over the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

The Outlaws will begin their title-defending campaign on Friday.
