DENVER — John Grant Jr. is a wizard with a lacrosse stick.
He’s Major League Lacrosse’s all-time leading scorer, but you haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen his Twitter reel.
"You know I did this stuff when I was a kid, I was obsessed with lacrosse in summer and hockey in the winter. So, I would spend all day long doing this stuff," Denver Outlaws player-coach John Grant Jr. said.
Grant’s bag of tricks includes everything from target practice to tether ball. He even has a blindfold bit, but his crowning achievement came with a golf club.
"I was throwing (lacrosse balls) over my catwalk, into a bucket. I don’t know how far it would have been. The lacrosse (tosses) were sort of easy. They took some takes, I’m not going to lie," Grant continued.
"Anyone who says it's (just) one take, usually its more than one. But the golf (shot into the buckets) was a tough one."
Getting his 10-year-old daughter involved in the was easy. Gabby Grant has become a hit on social media -- suffice it to say lacrosse is a family affair.
"I’m starting to see a little bit of me in her, which I guess (it) kind of worked out for me. But she uttered the words ‘I get to play lacrosse all day’ and I was like yeah, that’s part of the plan,"Grant Jr. said with a smile.
Outlaws fans wonder if their player-coach can pull off another trick on the field. They want to see a MLL Championship in 2020.
"That’s the goal. That’s the other real benefit to having some extra time, is trying to get myself in best shape possible," he said.
We know John Grant Jr will give it his best shot.
