DENVER — A year after coming up just short, the Valor Christian hockey team was determined to make it back to the Class 5A championship game and rewrite a different ending.
Mission accomplished.
The Eagles captured their third state title in four years Tuesday night by defeating Ralston Valley 7-3 at DU's Magness Arena.
Valor Christian's championship campaign began with its only loss of the season, to the same Ralston Valley team -- a 4-3 overtime loss in the season opener.
The Eagles then rattled off a 20-game win streak in route to the championship. The Mustangs went 14-5-2 overall as runner-up.
