DENVER β Simply dominant.
The Valor Christian boys lacrosse team won Monday night's championship, blowing past No. 1 Arapahoe 22-6 in the Class 5A state title game.
It is Valor Christian's third title in program history, and first since winning back-to-back 4A championships in 2016-17. The 22 goals by the Eagles sets a record for most scored in a championship game in state history.
"The whole team was just rolling," said senior Baden Brown, who scored a game-high seven goals. "It was a full team effort tonight. Nothing better. Unreal feeling."
The Eagles, who entered the playoff bracket as the No. 3 seed, went 17-2 overall this season which was capped off with a 16-game winning streak. Their only two losses were to out-of-state opponents early in the year.
Arapahoe spent much of the season as the top-ranked team in the state. The Warriors went 17-2 overall a runner-up.
