KUSA — After snow at the state track and field meet, rain at state baseball and lightning at state soccer, the crazy spring season is officially a wrap -- and we're on summer break.
That means it's time to recap the top moments and plays of the 2018 spring sports season. Watch the video and check out the list below to see who made our final cut:
9.) D'Evelyn soccer's Cecilia Leoni uses her noggin' to score a beautiful header goal. It was the game winner, and she scored it with just eight seconds left in the game.
8.) We know basketball is a winter sport -- but 'The Show' All-Star game falls in the spring sports season. Castle View junior Chase Hettinger's filthy dunk shocked his defender to earn our No. 8 spot.
7.) Chaparral girls' lacrosse player Hannah Mill doesn't have to look far for number seven -- in fact, she doesn't look at all when she scores her no-look, behind-the-back shot.
6.) Kent Denver forward Annabelle Johnson deserves a lot of credit for her impressive one-timer goal in the 3A girls' soccer state title game, but teammate Riley DiGiulio also deserves kudos for the impressive cross that led to the score.
5.) Mullen short stop Jake Barr's diving stop and throw-out at first base was a big league play... Maybe it's because it happened at a big league field. The number five play took place at Coors Field.
4.) Patrick Stadelmaier gets absolutely mobbed in front of the goal by the Cherry Creek defense -- but the Columbine senior somehow finds a way to score despite the pressure.
3.) Emily Sloan finished her track and field career as one of the best hurdlers the state has ever seen. The Rock Canyon senior won her fourth consecutive 100m hurdle title at the spring state track and field meet. She also won three of four 300m hurdle titles in her high school career -- and set the state record in that race at this year's state meet.
2.) Sophomore Caylin Lyubenko entered the 5A state girls' soccer game in overtime. Just minutes later -- she scored the golden goal, with a nifty behind-the-back shot. The score gave the Wolves their third girls' soccer title in four years.
1.) This spring's top play belongs to Regis Jesuit lacrosse player, Jake Taylor. Seriously, you have to watch his goal in slow-motion. He scored it between his legs, backwards -- all while he's being checked to the ground. Absolutely impressive, and our 9Preps top play of the 2018 spring sports season.
