Atop the Denver Prep League baseball standings going into Thursday were Denver North and Lincoln.
The Vikings, who are receiving Class 4A votes in the most recent CHSAA poll, were trying to crack into the top-10 rankings. They played host to their league opponents for a key matchup.
Denver North shot out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Lincoln, however, was quick to respond and scored six runs to take control.
The Vikings began to rally in the fifth inning, pulling the game to within one run but ultimately fell 6-5.
Lincoln improves to 5-3 overall with an undefeated 5-0 mark in DPL play to move to the top of the league standings.
Denver North falls to 5-3 and suffered its first league loss (4-1 DPL).
