PUEBLO, Colo. — Sterling is finally bringing home a football state championship.
The Tigers defeated Delta 27-19 in the Class 2A title game on Saturday at CSU-Pueblo for their first championship in program history.
The victory capped off a 12-1 overall season for Sterling, which fell only to an out-of-state opponent early in the regular season (at Scottsbluff, Neb. on Sept. 20).
The Panthers finished runner-up with an 11-2 record.
