PARKER, Colo. — The Lutheran football team had been waiting for this one.
After coming up a game shy of their first state championship in program history a year ago, the Lions got a shot at redemption Friday night — hosting the same Holy Family team that defeated them in the Class 3A title game last season.
This time, they made sure things went differently.
Lutheran, ranked No. 2 in 3A, got out to a quick start in the opening quarter and held on to defeat Holy Family 42-35.
The Lions improved to 7-1 on the season, which now includes a five-game winning streak.
The defending champion Tigers fall to 4-4 overall.
