Erie holds off Montrose in 4A football semifinals

The Tigers did just enough to defeat the Red Hawks, 25-22, and punch their ticket to the Class 4A football state championship game.

ERIE, Colo. — One more win.

The Erie football team is one victory shy of bringing home its first state championship in 26 years. Now riding a 12-game win streak, the Tigers have punched their ticket to the Class 4A title game after doing just enough to hold off Montrose, 25-22 in the semifinals on Saturday.

Erie will clash with top-seeded Palmer Ridge for the championship next Saturday (December 2) at CSU's Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.

Montrose's season ends with a 10-3 overall record.
