DENVER — The Roosevelt Roughriders are finally girls basketball state champions.
Roosevelt, the No. 2 seed in the Class 5A playoff bracket, defeated No. 4 Windsor 54-44 in the championship game at the Denver Coliseum on Saturday night to capture their first title in program history.
"All season we've been wanting this," sophomore Ryanne Bahnsen-Price said. "We've worked our butts off for this and we deserve it. I'm just so proud of everything."
Roosevelt went 26-2 overall in route to bringing home the state title. Windsor finished 20-8 as runner-up.
