DENVER — The bright lights of the Denver Coliseum are nothing new for the Grandview girls basketball team.
The Wolves came ready for the 2020 Class 5A girls basketball state playoffs, and it showed early. They were dominant in their Great Eight-round game against Fruita Monument on Friday, defeating the Wildcats 77-38 to advance to the Final Four.
"Our team has worked really hard for this moment, so I think we're ready to go," sophomore center Lauren Betts said.
"We've come together as a team really early this season and I think all of our hard work has come to this. We're all really excited and ready to go."
Betts led all scorers with an astounding 31 points. Her teammate Marya Hudgins also scored double figures with 13 points of her own.
Fruita Monument was led by Bailey Rigsby's team-high 16 points, while Lila Dere put up 10. The 5-seed Wildcats' season ends with a 23-3 overall record, which featured two 8-game win streaks.
4-seed Grandview will play 1-seed Valor Christian in the Final Four next Thursday at the Coliseum.
"We celebrate here until we get to practice tomorrow," Betts said. "Then it's just back to work again."
