DENVER — Faith Christian left no doubt -- just as their warmup t-shirts read -- that they would bring home the 2023 3A boys state basketball championship with their 54-45 win over Salida Saturday night at University of Denver's Hamilton Gymnasium.
"No doubt. The whole season, there was never any doubt in any of our minds," senior Keegan Paige said. "We knew we could do it."
Paige made sure of it, by sinking all three of his three point attempts, and adding a few more points down the stretch for his 17 points. He trailed only Carson Jasa's 18 points on his Eagles squad.
"I was just so happy," he said. "We have a huge support system, one of the best in the state, when you look around, there's so many people here, and these are my best friends. I love them so much."
The Eagles were challenged by 6'5" senior power forward Tristan Jackson on the other side. Jackson did about all he could to contest their championship quest, including two dunks, three triples, and 23 overall points.
The 2023 title is FCA's first boys basketball championship since 2012.
