DENVER — The defending champs are hanging tough.
Cherry Creek, a 2-seed in the Class 5A girls basketball state playoffs, rolled to the Final Four with a 46-33 win over 7-seed Ralston Valley in the Great Eight at the Denver Coliseum on Friday night.
The Bruins are now just two wins away from defending their crown.
"We were looking at videos the other day of our games here last year, and all the feelings just kept flooding back," senior forward Cali Clark said. "We're all so excited to be back."
Clark scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Bruins to victory. She was the only player on her team to reach double figures.
Ralston Valley was led by Saya Sabus' team-high 14 points.
Cherry Creek will next face 6-seed Highlands Ranch in the state semifinals next Thursday back at the Coliseum.
Ralston Valley's season ends with a 20-6 overall record.
"We got our shooting jitters out of the way in that one," Clark said. "So the next game is going to be great."
