SIEBERT -- A second quarter rally gave the Hi-Plains Patriots enough momentum to take down the Cheyenne Wells Tigers 66-44 for the 6-man football State Championship.

At the start of the championship match, the Tigers took a 6-0 lead on their first drive and eventually took a 22-15 lead against the Patriots.

However, in the second quarter, Hi-Plains connected on well placed tosses from Riley Marzolf to Landon McCaffrey to gain ground on the scoreboard.

Only seconds on the clock before half, Marzolf launched one to McCaffrey that was miraculously caught for six and the 38-22 lead at half.

Hi-Plains rode that momentum into the second half, Patriots' Cameron Klann sped away from the Tigers defense for two long running touchdowns to extend their lead.

Cheyenne Wells' Jaime Huerta would find the end zone a handful to time himself, but it wasn't enough to allow his team to catch their opponent.

After four quarters, Hi-Plains takes home the 6-man state championship 66-44.
