CENTENNIAL, Colo. — The Eaglecrest dance team took home gold as Team USA in April and in December, took first place for their third consecutive state championship.
"I never thought we'd get like a three peat," senior dancer, Kaleb Henderson said. "Going back to back was one thing, but none of us really thought we were gonna win again this year, so this win felt incredible.”
The Raptors will next head to Nationals in February, for a shot at first place after placing fifth last season.
“Nationals is crazy, because we could have practices from like 7am to 9am and then go compete, and then go back to the studio again from like, 9pm to 11pm," Henderson said. "So it's like, it's grind, grind grind as soon as we get to Florida.”
The Eaglecrest High School Raptors already have an international gold medal, beating out Japan and England as the International Cheer Union’s Junior Hip Hop champions.
"It feels so good," junior dancer, alexis vijil said. "But at the same time, it keeps getting you more competitive, so we just have to keep going at this level, but it feels amazing for people to be like, Oh my gosh, that's Eaglecrest.
The National Dance Team Championship begins February 2-4 at the Walt Disney Resort.
