Don't panic when you see 'EchoPark Stadium' as a location on your fall athletics schedule.
EchoPark Automotive, a used car dealership with locations in Thornton, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Littleton and Stapleton, has acquired the naming rights of the former Sports Authority Stadium in Parker.
A spokesperson for Douglas County Schools says the change was not a result of the sports retailer declaring bankruptcy, but rather because the contract with Sports Authority expired.
EchoPark Automotive purchased the naming rights of the stadium for the next five years, the spokesperson said. The new naming rights were acquired in May, and were in effect when local high schools held their graduations at the facility. While the official name of the stadium will be EchoPark Automotive Stadium, it will be referred to -- and shortened -- to EchoPark Stadium.
Douglas County is in the process of changing the signage at the stadium, though flags with the new name have been placed at the entrance.
EchoPark Stadium is located at 11901 Newlin Gulch Blvd. Parker, CO 80134.
