AUGUSTA, Ga. — It's official: Tiger Woods will play in this year's Masters.
The five-time champion is listed as part of the 85-player field on its website Wednesday. Woods, 48, has made just one tournament appearance so far this year, and there was speculation he'd sit out golf's first major after he did not participate in The Players Championship last weekend.
It will be Woods' 26th appearance at The Masters, which will be held April 11-14 at Augusta National Golf Club.
In 2023, Woods made the cut at Augusta for the 23rd consecutive time, tying the record set by Gary Player and Fred Couples. Woods also holds the Masters record for largest margin of victory (12 strokes) in 1997, and his five green jackets are second only to the six won by Jack Nicklaus.
Woods is forced to be selective about his playing schedule due to ongoing health problems stemming from a serious automobile accident in 2021, where he sustained several injuries to his lower right leg, ankle and foot.
After making the cut last year, Woods withdrew from the tournament when a rain delay suspended the third round. He underwent surgery a few weeks later, and did not return to action until December, when he played in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, then took the course with his son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship.
