Evans Scholarship Shines at BMW Championship at Castle Pines

Deserving Castle Pines caddies are awarded scholarship money towards college.

CASTLE PINES, Colo. — At Castle Pines, Caddies are beloved. And since 1930, the Evans scholarship has helped send those well-deserved caddies to college.

The scholarships are based on four criteria: scholastics, caddy loops, how many times have you walked around the course carrying a bag, character and leadership, and just overall development as a person,” says Duffy Solich, Chairman of the BMW Championship and Evans Scholars Foundation Trustee.

The program has 1,130 students in 24 universities across the country. Valor Christian alum and current CU Denver student Logan Byler is a recipient. He caddies at Castle Pines, “To get the Evans scholarship to tell your parents they don’t have to help at all with school and it’s kind of a thank you to the first 18 years of your life.”

When Castle Pines honored Evans scholarship winners like Logan at the BMW Championship pro-am, the valor christian alum spent the day carrying the bag of another Valor guy, “Well it’s really cool …,” said Denver native and fifth ranked golfer in the world Wyndham Clark. “... because his dad was my high school basketball coach and teacher too so to have his son now working out here and caddying for me it’s really neat and Logan’s a great kid and he’s gonna do great things.”
