DENVER — The disrespect toward the Denver Nuggets continues but hey, what else is new?
After a wild NBA trade deadline where we saw former league MVP Kevin Durant go from Brooklyn to Phoenix, the odds to come out of the Western Conference quickly shifted from the Mile High City to the Valley of the Sun -- without the new look Suns even stepping on the court.
But I get it, you pair a league MVP with superstar Devin Booker and that crew, they're tough. But chemistry is important and that's something Denver has prided themselves on.
With contenders in both conferences making moves on trade deadline day, the Nuggets didn't go get another All-Star.
They got a bench piece that will fit in big man Thomas Bryant, and reportedly are getting a bench guard in former 'Mr. Colorado basketball of 2008' Palmer High School grad Reggie Jackson, once he is released from Charlotte.
Denver is used to this disrespect, with all the "Jokic shouldn't be a two-time MVP" talk.
So I think the Nuggets need to use this as fuel. Make people realize Jokic is a deserving MVP. Get to the Western Conference finals and make a run at a title, maybe by even beating the Suns!
You do that? And all that disrespect goes away.
