DENVER — Andrew McBride and Shawn Williams are joining the Colorado Mammoth as assistant coaches, the organization announced Wednesday.
McBride will become the Mammoth's defensive coordinator and Williams the offensive coordinator.
“I’m really excited to have Shawn and Andrew join me on the bench," said Colorado Mammoth Head Coach Pat Coyle, in a news release. "I was lucky enough to call them both teammates at different times in my career."
"I also had the opportunity to compete against them both for years. They were both excellent team guys, always putting their teams needs ahead of their own. They were also both hard competitors and two guys that their teams really wanted to go to war with. And finally, they are both winners who have won multiple championships. I expect them to bring all those qualities to the Mammoth and there is no doubt in my mind they will.”
McBride concluded his 13-year National Lacrosse League career in 2015. He played for the Calgary Roughnecks his entire career including five as a captain.
“Colorado is a world-class city and organization,” said McBride, in a news release. “I have immense respect for Dan Carey and Pat Coyle and I can’t thank them enough for this amazing opportunity.”
Williams retired after a 17-year career in 2015 and is an NLL Hall of Fame member.
“My family is honored, grateful and humbled for the opportunity to be a part of such a prestigious and first-class organization in the Colorado Mammoth,” said Williams, in a news release. “Thank you, Dan and Pat, for this opportunity.”
“Both Shawn and Andrew are ultra-competitive," said Mammoth General Manager Dan Carey, in a news release. "They have won at the highest level, and understand the commitment it takes to win championships. Most importantly, they are great people who will fit into our team chemistry."
