A coach injured in a fatal bus wreck a few weeks ago is back on the sidelines.
Legacy High School head football coach, Wayne Vorhees, was seriously injured in the bus crash at DIA that took the life of the driver.
So proud of our guys tonight. Showed great ❤️&character. I am honored to be called their coach. Great job to coach Craddock & the staff

The team had just flown back from a game in California and more than a dozen football players and three coaches were hurt in the crash.
On Wednesday, Vorhees returned to practice and told 9NEWS about the moments leading up to the crash.
“I was just sitting in my seat kind of length-wise; I don't even know what I was doing. I didn’t have my headphones or anything on at that point," Vorhees recalled. "We were just getting going and getting back on the road and I probably had my phone in my hand to tell my parents that I had landed.”
The next thing Vorhees remembers? Waking up in the hospital with a concussion and three facial fractures.
“I have a gash on my forehead," Vorhees said. "It's taken me a little to come back… getting stitches, but you know, every day is getting better and better.”
The best moment for Vorhees, he says, was seeing his players again.
"The biggest thing is getting back to them and seeing how they’re doing," he said. "In the first week or two, they’ve been through a lot. Our staff been through a lot and I’m happy they did as well as they did.”
Legacy's Lightning is a tough bunch with a tough coach and they’re ready to hit the field again.
One other coach, Matt Kroupa, is still in the hospital.
Vorhees will coach his team Friday night, but he’s not sure if he’ll be on the sidelines or the press box.
The community has also united to help them through this tough time.
On Thursday evening, Blaze Pizza, at 4700 W. 121st Avenue in Broomfield will hold a fundraiser.
The money will go towards the coaches’ expenses.
