CASTLE PINES, Colo — Castle Pines will take your breath away but it will also take your game away too.
Just ask Castle Pines Golf Club General Manager and former Head Golf Pro Keith Schneider, “There’s about a 600 foot elevation drop from where we’re sitting in the clubhouse to the lower area of the golf course. The greens have very subtle breaks. They might look like they break to the valley but they might break up valley.” Castle Pines is the longest PGA course in pro history and it will affect the best golfers in the world, “If you walk around this golf course, it is nine miles. They’re in great shape but at this altitude, you do that five days in a row including the pro-amateur, they’re going to be tired. We’re gonna see how good of shape they are!”
Castle Pines is known for its stunning views, yummy milkshakes but also the thick rough that has been upgraded since the International was last played at Castle Pines in 2006, “The rough is quite healthy, quite thick so it presents its own challenges. So most importantly the fairway, setting yourself up for a good second shot,” says current Head Golf Pro Drew Parr.
