Yet another delay looms for RTD FasTracks rail project

While RTD grapples with issues slowing up the opening of its rail link to Wheat Ridge and Arvada, plus pesky problems with crossing gates on its airport and Westminster lines, it's now hinting at a delay on yet another rail route.

While RTD grapples with issues slowing up the opening of its rail link to Wheat Ridge and Arvada, plus pesky problems with crossing gates on its airport and Westminster lines, it's now hinting at a delay on yet another rail route.

Late Tuesday, the Regional Transportation District said it is "determining [a] new N Line constriction schedule" on the first leg of its planned 18.5-mile rail route from Denver Union Station north through Commerce City, Northglenn, Thornton and beyond.

RTD said that it is "reevaluating the schedule for the first 13 miles of the N Line design-build commuter rail project" with its contractor, Regional Rail Partners (RRP), a joint venture of Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc. and Graham & Co.

The N Line is part of RTD’s ambitious FasTracks construction project to expand its rail network across metro Denver.
