George Chandler of the Kansas City suburb of Shawnee was working on a backyard project with a friend when he accidentally fired a 2.5-inch nail into his own skull.
An ambulance rushed him to a hospital, where a doctor used a common claw hammer to remove the nail.
Chandler says he feels "very, very lucky" he wasn't hurt any worse than he was.
